The summer season is almost here, which means it’s time to make a summer outfit inspo post!
It all starts with spring cleaning our closets. Getting rid of the old junk and moving our most colorful pieces to the front of our closets. When I think about creating a cute summer look, it will always begin with color. This means choosing colors that are much brighter or pastel.
Some trending colors for Summer 2025 will be pastel colors like icy blues and bubblegum pink. Some other colors that will also be popular this year are butter yellow, olive green, red, and brown tones.
Now, that you have chosen your color let’s focus on the material. Materials perfect for summer are lightweight materials like cotton, linen, satin, etc. We also want to look for modern silhouettes and shapes. This could be large puff sleeves, long maxi skirts or dresses, and wide-leg pants or jeans.
I love to wear my most comfortable and breathable material during the hot summer days. I’ve only recently started to wear brighter colors since black was my staple color. Since then I have fallen in love with all of the different combinations you can make with colorful clothing. I’ve been wearing a lot of green lately, because I noticed that this color complements my skin tone, and it has made all the difference.
These are the cutest summer outfit inspo pieces you need to wear this summer season!
Summer Outfit Inspo
The White Dress
The white dress is a classic staple. You can wear this look up or down. Pair it with a denim jacket or a cardigan. It’s a basic that can be worn in many ways.
You don’t need much to make this piece stand out. I recommend using statement gold jewelry and gold heels to make it pop. Think of Schiaparelli when making this outfit come to life. Add some surrealistic jewelry or handbags to make your outfit stand out.

The Crochet Dress
Crochet is a trend that will not be going away this year. It’s cute and innocent and just perfect for those hot summer days at the beach.
Most of the runways for SS25 point towards the “fisherman trend”. I can really see crochet items being worn more often to the beach or as daily wear. So, style your next outfit inspired using this delicate and charming material in mind.

Long Flowy Skirt
Long flowy skirts are just an absolute hit for every spring and summer. Their comfy and breathable for any occasion especially for everyday wear.
If I were to wear a long skirt, I would make sure it hits my ankles. Floor-length skirts will just make it impossible to walk around all day. On the other hand, long floor-length skirts are perfect for a special occasion like going out to dinner with friends. Places where the majority of your time would be sitting down.

Denim Shorts
Summer is the season for the short. There are plenty of different styles of shorts to wear, but if it were me, I wouldn’t wear an inseam that would be too short for my body type. When it comes to wearing shorts, I need to feel comfortable, so I wear shorts with longer inseams to prevent them from riding up.
My favorite style of shorts to wear during the summer season is Bermuda shorts. They’re longer than most shorts and I love them because they prevent chaffing, especially in the hot weather. Now, that I have lost weight maybe I will be able to try shorter shorts. I would just have to try and see if they work for me.

Strapless Dress
If you’re going to a party or a night out with friends, a strapless dress is perfect to wear during summertime. Especially, for those brunch days, date nights, or summer parties.
It’s a great semi-formal look and can be worn with both a classy heel and a casual heel. There are some new strapless dresses that will be trending this year. These are the classy drop waist dresses. Another fun trend will be ruffles or layers, so add some flair to your dress this season.

Halter Top
I absolutely love a halter top! I feel like a really good halter top isn’t just a casual top but more of a semi-casual top. I like this type of piece because it can be easily elevated rather than dressing it down.
It’s perfect for everyday wear, parties, the beach, or just going to the mall.
The halter blouse is great to accentuate your neck and waist. They are super cute and pair well with denim pants. One neat trick you can do is to add some glitter spray on your shoulders and collarbone to really make your skin shine on those sunny days.

Denim On Denim
The denim-on-denim look is now trending more than ever before. Most of the trend is about wearing the same color of denim with your top and bottoms. This could look like a denim jacket with matching jeans or a denim blouse with a matching denim skirt.
I used to think that denim wasn’t classy or stylish, but now I feel like denim styles have changed enough to say that they are becoming more chic. I love the new styles of denim with the addition of little details like bows and buttons.

Mini Dress
The mini dress is perfect for a petite frame. A trendy dress that is picking up in popularity is the bubble skirt dress. It’s fun and flirty and it’s just perfect for the spring and summer season. Pair it with some strappy mules and a small crescent bag and whoalaa! You have made a stylish outfit that will get you so many compliments.
There were so many ruffles and jellyfish types of long ruffles on the runway for SS25. So, I would also suggest looking for pieces that are inspired by these types of ruffles. I think these ruffle dresses are truly so enchanting to wear.
Spring and summer are the seasons when fabrics tend to have a lot of intricacies and details. So, choosing a mini dress with textures and details, while at the same time focusing on just one color will make you look and feel sophisticated.

Maxi Dress
The maxi dress is gorgeous, lengthy, and perfect for those nights out the town, or date nights during the summer season. A lot of maxi dresses will work well with a more bohemian look. So, if you’re loving the boho chic look, try a boho maxi dress with a chain belt and a flat thong sandal.
By the way, you can’t go wrong with a crochet maxi dress. You can wear a slip underneath for everyday wear or use it as a coverup for the beach.

Palazzo Pants
The palazzo pant is a super comfortable pant. It’s great for work, running everyday errands, and sometimes even for special occasions. This pant can be paired with a simple shirt and a blazer. It’s great for a minimalistic look that can be paired with flats, sandals, or low heels.
I love wearing palazzo pants. They give me the freedom to do anything without feeling too restricted. They are so incredibly comfortable that they feel like pajama pants so it’s easier to get things done without having to worry too much about my clothes.

Pencil Skirt
The pencil skirt has come in handy in certain life situations. For example, your going to a last minute party or friend gathering and you’re freaking out because you don’t know what to wear. Well, you can throw on a pencil skirt, a basic blouse, kitten heels and some jewelry and it will make you look so gorgeous and chic. I always say when in doubt, dress the chic way! It will almost never fail.
Pencil skirts are amazing to wear to work and the best part about them is that they also look amazing with sneakers on. Pair them with some Adidas sambas for those days where you want to run some quick errands. Highly recommend pencil skirts for the summer!

Bubble Skirt
The bubble skirt fits the cute and fun aesthetic and it’s a trend that has come back to the runway. It’s definitely a type of skirt that will help you create new outfits that are different from your normal or basic wardrobe.
Some textures of these skirts are flimsier while others are stiffer. I would suggest to do the softer and flimsier material for the shorter skirts that way the hem won’t rid up while wearing the bubble skirt or dress. However, if the skirt is long I wouldn’t worry too much about the fabric type.

Colorful Matching Set
A colorful matching set can really set the tone of your day. I’ve noticed that wearing brighter colors can really attract people to you like magnets. When I used to wear black, it was like a subconscious way of telling people not to approach me. Even though I didn’t know this was happening.
Now that I wear brighter colors, I can really tell the difference in how people treat me. You become more approachable when you wear bright colors. I really dare those who always wear black to change your clothing color palette and you will see the change in behavior with the people around you. It’s truly fascinating!
Now, back to the gorgeous sets. These can be worn to the beach or on vacation. They are super comfortable and perfect for a resort or cruise vacation during the spring or summer time.

Long satin skirt
You can’t go wrong with a satin skirt. It’s comfortable and just like a pencil skirt it can be worn for different occasions. I love a satin skirt for those days where I want to elevate my look just a little without putting too much effort into my outfit.
You can put together a satin skirt outfit with a blouse, cardigan, headscarf, stud earrings, and some flat sneakers. I usually wear them with sneakers or sometimes with sandals. I live in a region where their tends to be a lot of rainy seasons during the summer time, so sandals are worn every so often.

Gingham Dress
The last style on this list would have to be a gingham dress. This type of dress is super cute and charming, and its a really great dress for a date or a special occasion. I liked the gingham trend from last year, and even though it might not trend this year or be as popular. I still think it’s still a great dress overall.
A gingham dress can come in different styles and this could mean from a vacation style dress to a semi-casual dress. I think they are perfect to wear for those big holiday events that happen in the spring time like Mother’s day, Easter, or the 4th of July.

The styles for this summer outfit inspo post were all inspired by my personal style along with the current trends. These key pieces are really all hits on my book and I think as long as you find what works for you. You will love them!
I will personally be wearing more simpler pieces this summer season to really embrace the cozy style look. I’m trying to branch off from the old money or preppy look that I have worn for many years.
I’ve always known that what we wear affects our psychology. So, I highly recommend changing your style up if you feel that you might not be “approachable” or you don’t feel like you are expressing yourself fully. I think we tend to forget about ourselves and tend to shut down those parts about ourselves. However, it’s what makes us who we are and I think we should take a step back and say “what do I like? what do I want to wear today?”
Anyways, I hope you loved this summer outfit inspo post and if you did please share it on Pinterest or share it with your friends. Let’s get The Pretty Economist to reach to as many people as we can. I will see you on the next one!
